Desktop PC: RIP

A funny thing happened on the way to repairing the OS on my PC. Somehow, everything went horribly wrong. Isn't that always the way it is with technology--when you're not an expert?

Sit Rep

The entire hard drive was backed up onto a Seagate external hard drive. Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't now transfer the data files anywhere except to the old hard drive. That would be okay except the old hard drive now, with the OS restored and operating properly, won't recognize the network adapters and/or the ethernet connection.

No Internet

That means I have no Internet access on it. So that means, so far, I can't transfer all my saved emails, address book, etc. anywhere. So even though I have everything saved, I can't get to it. At least for now I can't. I feel as if I'm stumbling around blind.

I hope to have this situation resolved as soon as my husband has time to work on it or my local computer tech gets to it. In the meantime, if you have emailed me about anything since last Thursday and have not had a reply, email me again. I'll check my email on webmail and get back to you.

Takeaway Truth

Sometimes, I have an overwhelming desire to throw my computer through the window then walk outside to where it landed on the lawn and take a 10 lb. sledge hammer to it.
